Tarred Roof Cake
This is a specialty of the island of Nantucket Island, Mass. When I was a young girl my grandmother use to make it for us kids. Use your favorite vanilla icing recipe in place of the store bought if desired. It is delicious with a nice cold glass of milk.
Set the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees C).
A 9×13-inch baking pan should be greased and floured.
Combine the eggs, sugar, flour, salt, baking powder, and vanilla in a large bowl.
Warm milk and butter should be thoroughly mixed in.
Spread evenly after pouring into the prepared pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.
Frost the completely cooled cake.
The cake should have vanilla frosting on top, followed by a bittersweet chocolate drizzle.
Before serving, let the chocolate cool and harden.
