Chinese Steamed Buns with Barbecued Pork Filling
My sister-in law is Chinese and this is one of her most delicious Dim Sum recipes. It’s Chinese name is Char Siu Bao, takes a little effort but is extremely worth it.
In a big bowl, add the warm water, then top with the yeast.
1 cup of the flour is then thoroughly mixed in.
For about 20 minutes after covering with a cloth, bubbles should start to appear.
Boiling water should be used to dissolve sugar and shortening.
Let the mixture cool to lukewarm.
Add the remaining flour to the yeast mixture and stir.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface when it becomes too stiff to stir and knead for 10 minutes or until smooth.
Place the dough inside a sizable bowl that has been coated with sesame oil.
The bowl should be turned over to coat and covered with a wet cloth.
Let rise until it has doubled in size in a warm location.
