This molasses cookie recipe dates back to colonial New England and includes allspice, cinnamon, raisins, and walnuts.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

In a medium sized bowl combine the flour baking soda cinnamon and allspice.

In a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium cream the sugar and butter until light yellow and fluffy.

Add the molasses egg whites and egg; beat well.

Using a wooden spoon stir in flour mixture until flour disappears.

Fold in raisins and nuts.

Drop by tablespoons 2 inches apart onto lightly greased cookie sheets.

Bake 8-9 minutes.

Lightly sift confectioners’ sugar over if you like.

In a large saucepan or stock pot combine the rhubarb sugar and pineapple.

Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Jars can be sterilized at the same time.

After the rhubarb mixture has boiled for 10 minutes remove from heat and stir in strawberry flavored gelatin powder.

Transfer to sterile jars seal with lids and process for 15 minutes in a boiling water bath.

Allow jars to cool in a draft-free area.

Refrigerate jars after seal has been broken.

Bring to a boil; cook for about 30 minutes at a rolling boil.

Reduce heat to medium-low so water is at a gentle boil.

Cover and cook for 3 1/2 hours.

Remove onions and cut them into wedges.

Return them to the pot.

Add carrots to the pot then place cabbage over roast.

Place potatoes on top of cabbage.

Cover and cook until potatoes are tender about 30 minutes more.

The potatoes should be immersed in the water by now but if not keep the lid on so they can steam.

These baked apples are stuffed with cranberries and glazed with a mixture of honey and brown sugar for an extra-special treat that makes the house smell great too!

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Core the apples and remove the peel from the top third of each one.

Place them in a baking dish and fill the core holes with as many cranberries as you can fit.

Meanwhile stir together the water brown sugar and honey in a small saucepan.

Bring to a boil stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar and honey if necessary.

Once it comes to a boil pour the mixture over the apples.

Bake for 1 hour in the preheated oven basting with the juices every 15 to 20 minutes.

Serve with vanilla ice cream.
